The Menu
Hello Fellow Reader!
Now is the time we have all been waiting for: The Menu!
I spent so much time designing this. I went through so many menu ideas through ChatGPT, but it was not coming out with recipes that felt as authentic as I wanted them to be. So I tried Claude for the first time, and we ran through several ideas until I got the menu I desired. I knew it was ready when my mouth was watering reading through the long form of the menu.
For generating menu item images, I didn't like how ChatGPT's photos turned out. They looked very fake. I tried Claude, and it cannot generate photos on the free version. So I went to Adobe Firefly and got beautiful portraits of the food on my menu. I used Claude to help me generate prompts for Firefly to get exactly what I needed.
I went with a trifold design. The back of the menu is where most people go looking for drinks, so that is where I put my drink menu. The cover page I left simple with a border, the logo, and a short slogan describing the fusion cuisine of my restaurant. When you open up the menu, from left to right, you will see: appetizers, salads, and sides. When the menu is open all the way, from left to right, you see: appetizers, entrées, and desserts. I created the layout in Adobe InDesign, which is a program I have not used before, which is why it took me longer than I wouldve liked to. It was a learning curve, but I did it and learned a new program while I was at it.
This entire project has taught me so much and has been a labor of love. I will 100% be recreating some, if not all of these recipes at home. Here is my menu design:
